Attention Spring Athletes
From Sarah Wilhelm: Attention all spring sport athletes! Season starts March 12th. This means you will need a current physical on file by the 12th in order to participate in tryouts/practice. Blank physical forms can be found in the office, the athletic training room, or online at https://www.mhsaa.com/portals/0/Documents/health%20safety/physical2page.pdf. Host Families Needed
From Mr. Cole: For the past three years, a group of students from Innsbruck, Austria has been coming to Jackson with an exchange program through Jackson High, in partnership with visits to Lumen as well. There is another group coming from March 9-20, and there are still two girls and one boy who need host families during that time. If you are interested in being a host family, please contact Mr. Cole at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Interfaith Food Donations
From Mrs. Kuhl: We are again taking donations of single serving fresh fruit (apples, bananas, tangerines) for the Interfaith dinner meal Tuesday the 20th. What is Your Lunch Balance?
From Cafeteria: Please check your student lunch balances consistently. We never refuse a student from eating a meal. However if your student is carrying a negative lunch account balance (unless they have cash) we can decline their ability to buy additional food items, for example, an extra milk, a sandwich or any food item which is not offered as part of the main meal. Please encourage your students to ask the cashiers with any questions they may have. Sign up to access your student’s lunch balance here.
Upcoming ACT Testing
From Mr. Havlicek: Juniors and Parents: Thank you to all the Juniors who set up meetings with Mr. H to go over college planning immediately after the Christmas Holiday! It was awesome to see those students taking full responsibility for their futures. If you or your student has not set up a meeting time to go over their college planning with Mr. H, you are encouraged to make that happen as soon as possible. Also, ACT testing happens on February 27th; so now is the time for the students to begin working through practice problems in order to prepare for this important examination.

- From a parent: I had a problem with my van door not closing after dropping off my son. I started to pull away and a student yelled out to me that the door was not shutting properly. The student took the time to come over and help me by opening the door so that I could close it properly from inside. I appreciate the student taking the time to help me with this so I did not have to get out of my car with all the traffic in the morning. This was a wonderful act of kindness this student showed today. I do not know his name but still wanted to share!
