From Mrs. Kuhl: The LC Interfaith Shelter Project will be again accepting fresh fruit for Monday’s dinner meal. We continue to serve all summer! Anyone interested in signing up for summer service at the Shelter, see Mrs.Kuhl in128.

From Mrs. Garred: All 9th Gd students have met with Mrs. Garred, and created a login to a new system we’re launching next year, called Naviance.  They were able to login and complete a personality assessment, called “Strengths Explorer”, which provided them with a list of the top three strength areas in their personality.  They then went in and looked at possible broad career areas that matched their personality strengths.  Ask your student to login at (under “students and families”) and show you their results!

From Mr. Havlicek:

Seniors and Parents: Transcripts have been submitted this week for all Seniors attending college. Both NCAA and NAIA Clearinghouses have been submitted to as well. Please let Mr. H know if you have any questions, or if there are any glitches with the Admissions Offices at the schools the students are attending.

Juniors and Parents: The 2019-2020 College Planning Informational guide is attached. Please let Mr. H know if you have any questions or concerns as we enter the summer months as college application preparation begins.

From Mr. Marcero: Consider joining our Lumen Christi Community Choir this summer! It will be on Wednesdays from 1:30-3 pm starting June 19th. The performance will be on August 7th. Cost is $40 and includes music, rehearsals, and performance. Email me at if you are interested!

From the Library:  The library will be open Wednesday mornings from 8 a.m. to Noon for book tests this summer.  All students in grades 9 – 12 are required to read and successfully pass five (5) book tests per school year.  (Freshman 5, Sophomore 5 + 5 = 10, Junior 10 + 5 = 15, and Senior 15 + 5 = 20 before graduation)  As per our Community Guidebook “Students must be ‘caught up’ on their book lists to progress to the next grade each year…”   Watch our Lumen social media for any changes in the schedule for the library.

From the Registrar: Dual Enrollment is a great way to earn college credit while in high school. The State of Michigan provides funding for approved students in Dual Enrollment courses.

Spring Arbor University is accepting applications for dual enrollment courses for the Fall Term.  Juniors and Seniors considering dual enrollment should apply for courses beginning now.  The application deadline is August 15th, but courses do fill up.  Additional information and a suggested list of courses for dual enrolling students is available from Mr. Havlicek or Ms. Fleming. Students may also enroll with Jackson College and Baker College. Applications and information are available on the College’s websites.

From Titan Time:  Friday, May 31, was the last day of Titan Time for the school year.  Please make sure students are picked up immediately after school or in an extra-curricular or practice next week.
