This Week at LC 5.18

From the Business Office:   A gentle reminder that the entire family tuition must be paid in full for seniors to receive diploma at graduation.

From the Business Office:  The Business Office is in the process of entering the 2018-19 tuition into FACTS.  This is a two-part process.  We will first enter the base tuition for all students. The second step will be to enter all credits including, trip, tuition assistance and sibling discounts. We will finalize FACTS tuition in June for all students.

From the Business Office:  To receive the 3% paid in full discount for 2018/2019 tuition, the full amount of tuition needs to be paid by July 1, 2018.

From the Cafeteria:  We are short on the number of hot lunch days left in the school year!

Please note, all lunch accounts must be paid in full by Friday, May 25, 2018!  The cafeteria will only accept cash payments on the remaining following lunch days: 5/29, 5/30, 5/31, 6/1, 6/4, and 6/5.  Students may use any positive funds that remain in their account after 5/25, however, IT MUST be enough to cover the cost of the food items that your student is wanting to purchase.

Attention 2018 Graduates and Families: We welcome you to St. Marys Star of the Sea (120 E Wesley) on Wednesday, Mary 23rd for our Baccalaureate Mass. Graduates should arrive by 6:45pm in appropriate dress, shoes (no athletic shoes or flip flops), and cap and gown (no caps for gentlemen)

After Mass, please plan to join us in Star Hall for a reception courtesy of our sophomore class.

Doors will open for Graduation on Thursday, May 24th at 6:30pm. There will be handicap accessible seating for those in need. The ceremony will begin at 7:30pm. Admission is by ticket only. Graduates should plan to arrive and report to their assigned classroom by 6:45pm  in appropriate dress, shoes (no athletic shoes or flip flops), and cap and gown. Following the ceremony, the graduates will return to their assigned classroom to pick up their graduation packet and then greet family and friends.

We look forward to sharing this glorious day with you!

From the Senior Party Committee: Decorated posters of your Grad (max size 28×22) may be dropped off through Thursday, May 24th at NOON in the Advancement Office. Please contact Brook Manchester at if you have any questions.

We could still use a few more volunteers to set up for the party on Thursday, May 24th. If you are available, please report to the commons area at 1:00pm on Thursday. Many hands makes for light work!

From 7th Grade Teachers: We are in need of 16 – 17 chaperones for our seventh grade spring field trip. As part of a science unit on animals and animal behavior, our students will be visiting Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek and will be completing a work packet. Each parent will be in charge of a group of about six students. Your own son or daughter will be a member of your group. Unfortunately, we cannot permit other siblings to attend this day with us.

The field trip will take place on Monday, June 4th. Parents will need to arrive at Lumen Christi by 8:00 am for a brief meeting on the morning of the trip. After the meeting you may join us on the buses, or you can drive/carpool with other chaperones to the zoo. We will be leaving the zoo around 2:00 pm. Once the students are on the buses, parents are free to leave and do not need to return to the school. Your own student may ride home with you by request.

If you are able to help out as a chaperone for our zoo trip, please ask your student for the form and return by Friday, May 18th.

Thank you for your continued support and assistance!

From the Library:  All library material must be returned by Friday, June 1st.  No overdue fines will be charged if the book is returned, but if it is lost the replacement charge must be paid before report cards are issued.  If you have any questions, please check with Mrs. Lienhart in the library.

Book Test News:  The library will be open for book tests and for checking in and out of books every Wednesday during the summer from 7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.and also from 3 p.m.- 8 p.m. on July 11th and August 1st.  All students in grades 9 – 12 are reminded that they must take and pass 5 book tests each year.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mrs. Lienhart in the library.  The book list is available on the Lumen Christi website — click on Academics then choose Library/Media Center.  You will find the grade appropriate list towards the bottom of the page.

From the Main Office: Please find the tentative schedule for 7/8 Quarterly Assessments below.  8th grade students in 8th Grade Advancement will take their 9th grade exams at this same time:

Tuesday, May 29:  Electives and Social Studies

Wednesday, May 30:  ELA and Religion

Thursday, May 31: Math and Science

Friday, June 1/Monday, June 4:  Make-up Day

From the Main Office: Most recently, we mailed a letter to parents, who currently use our Lumen Christi Bus Transportation, announcing changes to our service for the 2018 school year.

After much careful deliberation, it has been determined that, beginning next fall,  we will no longer be able to offer Lumen Christi Bus Transportation as we have done in the past. We realize that this change creates a challenge for families.  With this in mind and with careful consideration, we will continue to provide this important service through other options.  Please take time to read the attached letter that provides the details of these options and our alternative plan to provide transportation service for the Jackson area Catholic schools.

From Mr. Havlicek:  Juniors, your Senior year is approaching quickly, and it is time to begin searching for Scholarships! Throughout the summer months, Mr. Havlicek will be sending you information and links in order to begin readying yourselves to apply for lots of aid for college. Keep your accounts on the ready over the next three months.

Also, students can begin applying for colleges in August, and it is important to know if you should be applying Early Action, Early Decision, or Regular Decision. Double-check with Mr. H if you are not sure when to get started so you have everything in place to begin a great Senior year.

From LC yearbook: The final deadline for ordering a yearbook is coming fast. May 30 is the final date. Online orders for yearbooks for this school year have ended, but you can still order via check or cash. The cost is $65. Make checks payable to “Lumen Christi.” Please indicate the student’s name on the check. Please turn in payments to Mr. Cole or the front office. Contact Mr. Cole at with any questions.

From The Main Office:  Enrollment for the year is with the online completion of FACTS ENROLLMENT.  All families must set up a Tuition Payment Plan with FACTS under the Jackson Area Catholic School System.  Each family is required to pay a non-refundable yearly family enrollment fee of $55 prior to May and $75 after May 1.

FACTS Enrollment will take you 5 minutes!  Visit the Lumen Christi website and click on “FACTS Enrollment” under Quicklinks to begin enrollment.   Complete the enrollment information and required forms.  FACTS Enrollment is your commitment to be a Titan!

From Mrs. Kristovic:  Lumen Christi is hiring exceptional educators for the 18-19 school year!  We currently have openings in high school math and middle school English.  We anticipate having an opening for a part to full time Assistant Athletic Director.   Please use the following link to access the other postings:

This year, we are piloting a referral program.  If you recommend and connect a candidate via e-mail, teachers can earn a $500 referral bonus and parents can earn a $500 tuition credit.  To be eligible, the candidate must be hired and work for at least one semester.  Thank you for your help in finding the best possible educators for our classrooms!

From the Athletic Department:  Dr. Kremmer and ORS are going to offer physical exams for $5.00(Cash) on June 11th at Lumen Christi.

Two important items:  the MHSAA physical forms must be picked up at Lumen Christi at front office, athletic director’s office, or in the trainer’s office. History portion and and all required signatures must be completed on that MHSAA form on the physical exam day; we will need volunteer assistance in offering the physicals(check in, recording height and weight, check out). Please send an e-mail or call the athletic office if you can volunteer.
