This Week at LC 5.11.18
From 7th Grade Teachers: We are in need of 16 – 17 chaperones for our seventh grade spring field trip. As part of a science unit on animals and animal behavior, our students will be visiting Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek and will be completing a work packet. Each parent will be in charge of a group of about six students. Your own son or daughter will be a member of your group. Unfortunately, we cannot permit other siblings to attend this day with us.
The field trip will take place on Monday, June 4th. Parents will need to arrive at Lumen Christi by 8:00 am for a brief meeting on the morning of the trip. After the meeting you may join us on the buses, or you can drive/carpool with other chaperones to the zoo. We will be leaving the zoo around 2:00 pm. Once the students are on the buses, parents are free to leave and do not need to return to the school. Your own student may ride home with you by request.
If you are able to help out as a chaperone for our zoo trip, please ask your student for the form and return by Friday, May 18th.
Thank you for your continued support and assistance!
From the Library: All seniors that have library books checked out are reminded to be sure to get them turned in before the start of exam week. No late fines will accessed unless the book is lost and most be replaced. Also, if any senior still needs to take book tests, they will be given priority seating before or after school.
From Mrs. Fleming, Registrar: Please check your Service Hours and Book Program totals: Service Hours and Book Test totals may be viewed in Powerschool. The cumulative totals are displayed on the portal page (using a browser), at the top of the Graduation Progress Screen or on the bottom of the Grades and Attendance screen. They are not available on the mobile app.
All 9 -12 students must complete 15 Christian service hours per school year and pass 5 Book program tests per year.
From the Main Office: Most recently, we mailed a letter to parents, who currently use our Lumen Christi Bus Transportation, announcing changes to our service for the 2018 school year.
After much careful deliberation, it has been determined that, beginning next fall, we will no longer be able to offer Lumen Christi Bus Transportation as we have done in the past. We realize that this change creates a challenge for families. With this in mind and with careful consideration, we will continue to provide this important service through other options. Please take time to read the attached letter that provides the details of these options and our alternative plan to provide transportation service for the Jackson area Catholic schools.
From Mr. Havlicek: Juniors, your Senior year is approaching quickly, and it is time to begin searching for Scholarships! Throughout the summer months, Mr. Havlicek will be sending you information and links in order to begin readying yourselves to apply for lots of aid for college. Keep your myjacs.org accounts on the ready over the next three months.
Also, students can begin applying for colleges in August, and it is important to know if you should be applying Early Action, Early Decision, or Regular Decision. Double-check with Mr. H if you are not sure when to get started so you have everything in place to begin a great Senior year.

There is one boy, and three girls.

All families must set up a Tuition Payment Plan with FACTS under the Jackson Area Catholic School System. Each family is required to pay a non-refundable yearly family enrollment fee of $55 prior to May and $75 after May 1.

From The Main Office: Attached is the Lumen Christi Catholic School 2018-2019 Tentative School Calendar.
From Mrs. Kristovic: Lumen Christi is hiring exceptional educators for the 18-19 school year! We currently have openings in high school math and middle school English. We anticipate having an opening for a part to full time Assistant Athletic Director. The posting is not available yet (check back early next week), but if you are interested, please contact Mrs. Kristovic at firstname.lastname@example.org Please use the following link to access the other postings: https://www.jcslumenchristi.org/employment-opportunities/.
This year, we are piloting a referral program. If you recommend and connect a candidate via e-mail, teachers can earn a $500 referral bonus and parents can earn a $500 tuition credit. To be eligible, the candidate must be hired and work for at least one semester. Thank you for your help in finding the best possible educators for our classrooms!
From the Business Office: A gentle reminder that all tuition for seniors must be paid in full before graduation to receive their diploma.
From the Cafeteria: Thank you to all the parents and families who have continuously made payments to your student’s lunch account balance!! For your information the following dates apply to SENIORS: May 10, 2018-May 15, 2018 only cash purchases will be allowed unless there is enough positive lunch balance to cover the cost of the meal. In coordination with the business office, remaining positive lunch balances may be used to pay other outstanding fees or will be transferred to a younger sibling if that applies. If there is not a sibling to transfer positive lunch account funds to and if all fees have been paid, then the family will be refunded.
From Mrs. Manchester: Senior Parents: Make sure to check your email for information about our upcoming Senior Party! Click on this link http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c49abaa28a5ff2-2018 for the Sign Up Genius.
From the Athletic Department: Dr. Kremmer and ORS are going to offer physical exams for $5.00(Cash) on June 11th at Lumen Christi.
Two important items: the MHSAA physical forms must be picked up at Lumen Christi at front office, athletic director’s office, or in the trainer’s office. History portion and and all required signatures must be completed on that MHSAA form on the physical exam day; we will need volunteer assistance in offering the physicals(check in, recording height and weight, check out). Please send an e-mail or call the athletic office if you can volunteer.
