ANNOUNCEMENTS

From the Advancement Office: Remember, Monday is the last turn-in day for our Spring Raffle!  We need to make our goal of $100,000 to have the day off on Friday, May 4!  (Senior and junior parents, please remember that students MUST be in attendance on Friday in order to attend prom if we have school that day.)  Thank you for all your support of Lumen Christi and our amazing students and teachers with this program!

From The Main Office:  Enrollment for the year is with the online completion of FACTS ENROLLMENT.  All families must set up a Tuition Payment Plan with FACTS under the Jackson Area Catholic School System.  Each family is required to pay a non-refundable yearly family enrollment fee of $55.  The fee increases to $75 on May 1.

FACTS Enrollment will take you 5 minutes!  Visit the Lumen Christi website www.jcslumenchristi.org and click on “FACTS Enrollment” under Quicklinks to begin enrollment.   Complete the enrollment information and required forms.  FACTS Enrollment is your commitment to be a Titan!

From The St. Francis Campus Caretakers: Much work continues to be completed by this volunteer group to make Lumen Christi a well manicured campus. Please do not paint the new rocks placed in the boulevard at the entrance to the school. We ask that you also remind your students that those rocks are to be left alone. If you see a Campus Caretaker out working, please thank them!

From the Prom Committee:  One last reminder about prom dress!  Regular dress guidelines are in place: gentlemen: must be in tie and jacket ladies: no backless dresses (must be at least as high as mid rib cage), no cut outs or sheer panels, and no slits above mid-thigh.  Again, if you have a question, please provide a picture to Mrs. Garred or Mrs. Kristovic ahead of time so you can have a fun night beginning to end!

From The Main Office: Pursuant to Article 12 of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, we are offering safe environment education and training for children and youth enrolled in our school/religious education program. We will be using the Praesidium Called to ProtectTM for Youth program for students in grades 7 through 12.  Praesidium experts carefully developed the content and conducted extensive nationwide field-testing to ensure that each part is informative, well received, and effective.  Called to ProtectTM for Youth, teaches middle and high school students about boundaries, how to respond if someone tries to violate their boundaries, and how to tell their parents if they or their friend have been abused.

The scheduled lessons will be provided in Religion class Wednesday, May 2 and Thursday May 3.  As a parent or guardian you have the right to choose whether your student participates in the Called to ProtectTM for Youth program.  If you have questions or would like more information about the Called to ProtectTM for Youth program, please call Asst. Principal Tony Shaughnessy.   If you decide you do not want your child to participate, please complete the opt-out form emailed on Thursday, April 26 (and for your convenience also attached here) and return it to the Main Office no later than May… OR, if you prefer, you may email us at attendance@myjacs.org.

From The Main Office:  Attached is the Lumen Christi Catholic School 2018-2019 Tentative School Calendar.

2018-2019 Tentative School Calendar – 4-25-18

From the Faculty Committee on Academic Policies:  We are looking at revising our guidelines to provide more consistency and predictability across the school.  Students and parents, please take some time to complete the survey included here to help us make recommendations for next year: https://goo.gl/forms/59VNeKuXLDTlnwbS2

From the Junior Class: Congratulations to the winners of our “Guess the Jelly Bean Count” contest.  Megan Gibson was the winner of the Qdoba gift card, Mr. Simmons came in second and earned a big bag of chocolate, and in third place winning a free LC Pizza lunch was Arshnoor Ghare.  For those wondering the actual count was 972 jelly beans.  Thank you to everyone that entered!

From the Junior Class:  We are quickly approaching our big event of the year–PROM!  The students have been hard at work this past week on the invitations and decorations during seminar and after school, and things are really shaping up.  Please take a moment and review the Sign-up Genius (link below) as we have made some changes in what opportunities to help are needed.  We still have some blanks and would love to have your help.  If you have any questions, please contact Fr. Dan Lannen at frlannen@myjacs.org or Mrs. Lienhart at elienhart@myjacs.org.   https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0c4daeaf29abf94-2018

From Mrs. Kristovic:  Lumen Christi is hiring exceptional educators for the 18-19 school year!  We currently have openings in high school math, high school English, and middle school English.  Please use the following link to access the postings: https://www.jcslumenchristi.org/employment-opportunities/.  This year, we are piloting a referral program.  If you recommend and connect a candidate via e-mail, teachers can earn a $500 referral bonus and parents can earn a $500 tuition credit.  To be eligible, the candidate must be hired and work for at least one semester.  Thank you for your help in finding the best possible educators for our classrooms!

From Mrs. Miller:  Check out artwork from our 7th-12th grade artists featured at this year’s Jackson County Art Show at the Jckson Crossing.  The Lumen Christi display will be by the Sears/Alpha Coney Island end of the mall.  The display will run from Monday, April 23rd to Monday, May 7th.  See all the awesome talent from our LC students!

From Mrs. Fleming: Please be sure your student has turned in all of the Service Hour forms they have earned so far this year.  Service Hour totals are continuing to be updated in PowerSchool. You may view the totals at the top of the Graduation Progress screen, using a web browser (not the mobile app).

From the Business Office:  A gentle reminder that all tuition for seniors must be paid in full before graduation to receive their diploma.

From the Cafeteria:  Thank you to all the parents and families who have continuously made payments to your student’s lunch account balance!!  For your information the following dates apply to SENIORS:  May 10, 2018-May 15, 2018 only cash purchases will be allowed unless there is enough positive lunch balance to cover the cost of the meal.  In coordination with the business office, remaining positive lunch balances may be used to pay other outstanding fees or will be transferred to a younger sibling if that applies.  If there is not a sibling to transfer positive lunch account funds to and if all fees have been paid, then the family will be refunded.
