From Sarah Wilhelm:Attn: Spring Sport Athletes! The spring season will quickly be upon us! Please make sure you have a current physical on file with me in the athletic training room. If you don’t have one come try outs, you can’t participate. Feel free to email me (swilhelm@myjacs.org) with questions. 

From Mrs. Garred: Reminder that all Jackson Area Career Center enrollment forms (for new career center students) are due to Mrs. Garred no later than March 15.

From Mr. Havlicek: Juniors: Set up your College Meetings with Mr. H ASAP…time to start scheduling College Visits for the springtime. Email dhavlicek@myjacs.org with any questions.

From Mr. Marcero: Please support the arts by attending our Dueling Pianos Fundraiser, “Music Under the Lights,” on March 23rd from 6-11 pm. Tickets are $100 per plate and includes a buffet dinner by Gene Davis with chicken, beef, potatoes, pasta salad, house salad, appetizers, and desserts. Cocktail hour starts at 6 pm, dinner at 7 pm, and dueling piano entertainment from 8-10 pm. All reservations must be prepaid, through Elena Beasley and the main office. Email Elena at elbeas@comcast.net or call/text 517-740-4932. Reservations must be placed and paid for by March 15th. The event was a rousing success for last year’s Carnegie trip, and we hope you can join us to help us raise funds for a new lighting system for all of our masses, concerts, and theatre productions!

Attention:  Senior Parents

On Thursday, March 7, our graduation candidates – the class of 2019 – will meet with the Jostens representative, Jeff Ross, to provide information for ordering cap and gown to be worn at commencement on Wednesday, May 23 in the Lumen Christi fieldhouse.  Seniors will also receive a Jostens Graduation Catalog for ordering the official school announcement, should you so choose to do so.

In addition, on Thursday, March 7, seniors will receive a permission form for the senior class field trip to their Parish for Mass on Friday, March 15.  This is part of our year-end events for seniors.  Please ask your senior about the form that is required to be returned.  

From the Technology Department:  Everywhere we turn and everything we hear tells us to make and use good strong passwords to protect ourselves and our families.  This holds true with our students email and Goggle accounts as well.  When a student enters Lumen Christi they are assigned the same password as every other student and should change it.  We have had incidents where students’ Goggle Docs have been opened, printed, and turned in to the teacher by another student.  While the teachers and administration was able to discern the misrepresentation, the best remedy is to make sure no other student is able to open an account that is not theirs.  Please encourage your student to make their password is their own and make it strong.

From Mrs. Fleming: 

AP Exam Registration

Registration for Advanced Placement exams will start the week of March 4th.  Students may earn credits from their college based on their AP Exam scores. All students taking AP courses  are highly encouraged to take the AP Exam. The exams are in May and there is a $94 exam fee.  Students should register by March 15th. More information will be provided in AP classes.  

Service Hours

Is your student on track for completing their Service Hours for the current year?  Service Hour totals were reported on Semester 1 report cards and are visible on your PowerSchool portal account through a web browser (not the mobile app). Students should be checking school announcements and student email for service opportunities.

From Queen’s: Please consider joining the Women’s Guild for a movie screening on Sunday, March 10.  Information attached!

From Mrs. Kuhl:On March 5th, “Fat Tuesday,”before school (7:15- 7:50) the LC Interfaith Shelter Project will host a Panera breakfast with bagels, coffee, juice, hot chocolate, and all the condiments.

It will be in the Commons! Please consider supporting this fundraiser. Proceeds will go toward our twice monthly dinners at the Shelter.

From Mr. Havlicek: Seniors and Parents: Scholarships have been earned, and we want to display them in the graduation booklet! Please submit a scan of the information you have received from the colleges so it can be displayed. Contact Mr. H with any questions: dhavlicek@myjacs.org

From Mrs. Kuhl: The Interfaith Shelter Project will be hosting a breakfast on Tuesday March 5th from 7:15- 7:55 in the LC Commons. Panera bagels, toppings, coffee, hot chocolate, and juice will be available! Please consider supporting this fundraiser.

From the Drama Department:  The auditions were held, the cast was chosen, the songs and dances are being practiced, and the lines are being learned.  Now all we need is an audience!  Mark your calendars for our spring musical:  OKLAHOMA!  The curtain will open on Friday and Saturday, March 8th & 9th at 7:30 p.m. or on Sunday, March 10th at 3 p.m.  Reserved seats are $20, and general admission seats are $5-$12.  Call 517-917-4302 for more information
