ANNOUNCEMENTS

From the Deans: Our Halloween Dance has been adjusted to accommodate the home football playoff game, as we are not able to host both events at the same time.  The dance will be held Saturday, October 27. The dance for grades 7-8 is from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The dance for grades 9-12 is from 8:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.  Dances will be held in the auxiliary gym.  This is a casual dance and students are encouraged to come in costumes!

From the Main Office:  Our Quarter 1 Honor Roll Celebration is coming soon!  We will celebrate students in all grades on Tuesday, November 6. Parents of 7th and 8th graders earning Honor Roll Recognition are invited to join us for Honor Roll Breakfast (parents of high school students — we will see you at the end of the semester!). All students 7-12 who earn Honor Roll are invited to “dress up” that day and students in grades 9-12 will also receive an Honor Roll breakfast. Please check your mailed report card for your invitation!

From the Main Office:  Attached is the 2018-2019 Parent/Student Directory.  Consent to publish was authorized by those listed in the Directory at Packet Pick-up.  We provide this list annually of parent/student names/address/emails and preferred phone number (one number listed per family) as drawn from PowerSchool and authorized by the parent each year.

From Mr. Havlicek: Parents of Seniors/Senior students: The November 1  Early Action deadline for college applications is right around the corner. Make sure you have checked with each college your student is interested in applying to not miss the right time to apply for the right fit before the deadline.

From Mrs. Fleming:

On Friday, October 26th and Monday, October 29th students in freshmen Theology class will be taking the Assessment of Children/Youth Religious Education. The assessment covers religious knowledge and a survey of beliefs, attitudes, practices and perceptions.

Quarter 2 assignments are visible in PowerSchool.  Quarter 1 grades will temporarily not be displayed as teachers complete their grading and finalize quarter 1 grades for report cards.

This year we will mail paper report cards as in previous years.  In addition, we will be using our secure document delivery service to email quarterly and semester grade reports.  Look for both and continue to check your PowerSchool portal and email for student academic information.

From Mr. Anderson: For students, and parents of students, attending the March for Life this year: Mr. Anderson has permission slips and information sheets in his classroom if you were not able to make it to the meeting on Thursday. The permission form is due Friday, November 2nd. The total cost for the trip is again $200 this year. The first $100 will be due December 6th. The second half is due Thursday, January 10th. Be sure to get your permission form in to reserve your spot: remember, it is first come first serve.

From Sarah Wilhelm, the Athletic Trainer: The winter sports season will quickly be upon us.  Make sure your student athletes have a current sports physical for this school year so they don’t miss out on participating. If you have questions on if one is on file, email me at swilhelm@myjacs.org.

From the Advancement Office: 50 Years; Faith & Family! Please join us for our 44th annual Dinner & Auction on Friday, November 16, 2018. Invitations should arrive in your mailbox next week–you can also reserve your place online by visiting www.lumen18.givesmart.com. We look forward to celebrating our 50th Anniversary with the Lumen Christi family  and to share the faith, learning and fellowship Christ has brought to us in this season and always.
