Praying for the Graduates of 2018
Last night, we graduated the outstanding class of 2018. We hope to have prepared them well for meaningful lives ahead, but know they will need to take many things with them as they venture into the world.
Our graduates will need courage. Changing your neighborhood, community, city, state, or nation requires bold action. As our core value states, it means doing what is right, not what is easy. Our graduates will need faith in God and themselves to venture forth in the face of obstacles, to be scared but to try anyways. Be bold and courageous, graduates.
Our graduates will need grit. Most of our graduates have experienced small failures. Some have weathered big failures. All will encounter their own weakness and shortcomings and failures in the years ahead. When they do, they will need grit to be great. When encountering failure, they will need to reflect, to take personal responsibility, and to commit to be better. With humility, they will need to try again to become their best self. Be a better self every day, graduates.
Our graduates will need joy. We are made to be joyful beings, and to experience Christ in the beauty of our world and our relationships. Life can be challenging, but there is much peace and joy to be found in small moments around us. Be grateful and watchful, graduates — we all need these moments of joy.
Our graduates will need our prayers. Please join us in praying for our graduating class of 2018: Be Brave. Be Resilient. Be Humble. Be Grateful. Be Joyful. Be with God, and know that He is always with you.
In the Light of Christ,
