Lumen Christi Announces New Athletic Director

Dear Families,

In an article published today on Mlive, Niche website has named Lumen Christi as one of the top 50 schools in the state of Michigan for athletes.  This is an honor of which we can all be proud.  As a community, we know that this is recognition is evidence of the core values that we hold true every day, in all things that we do, including athletics: Character is the most important component of every play. Hard work pays off. The team, the team, the team. Doing small things well consistently is the difference between good and great.

We see these lived daily by our students in faith, academics, and extra-curriculars, even when athletics provides the most trophies for these mindsets.

With this proud tradition honored, it is appropriate to share big news in the next steps for our Athletic Department.

Jesse Brown has been hired as Athletic Director for Lumen Christi, effective July 1, 2019.

Jesse has significant experience in Catholic schools, athletics, and the coaching and development of people.  Jesse began his athletic career as an Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach and Baseball Coach at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.  He has spent more than a decade with the sports programs at Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic School, as a baseball coach, Assistant Athletic Director, and most recently, as head football coach of Kalamazoo United.  In addition to his impressive work on the field, Jesse managed 80 people and a multi-million dollar monthly revenue as a Production Team Leader in Operations Leadership at the Stryker Corporation.  Jesse has been recognized for his work at Stryker with multiple awards for excellence and was named the AP Kalamazoo Area Coach of the Year for Football in 2018. He has earned a Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration from Ohio University.

Jesse will be re-locating to the Jackson area with his family, including wife Maureen and two children.  Jesse writes: “I am extremely excited to move to Jackson, serve the Lumen Christi community, and continue to raise our family in a great Catholic school system.”

Jesse will be joined on the athletic staff by Associate Athletic Director Michael Kuhl.  Their shared values of faith, commitment, hard work, and integrity will serve the great tradition and next 50 years of Lumen Christi athletics.

Please join me in praying for Jesse and his family in their transition!  Go Titans!

In the Light of Christ,

Mrs. Kristovic
